Why members keep coming back.
I have been attending the IAM Annual Conference since 2002, only missing a few events over the years—mainly due to COVID-related travel restrictions. The true value of the conference has always been the opportunity to meet industry professionals from all over the world in one place, without needing to travel to multiple countries to do so.
While it’s difficult to quantify ROI for something so relationship- and knowledge‑driven, our continued attendance over more than two decades is a testament to the benefits we see year after year. We have also hosted a booth at the conference many times, for organisations sending multiple team members, having a booth is definitely worth considering.
The IAM Conference remains a key event in our calendar and continues to deliver value, connection, and insight every time we attend.

I entered the moving industry in 1997, but it wasn't until 2009 that I attended my first IAM conference, and I knew immediately I was exactly where I was meant to be. I closed deals at that very first convention, and I've attended every in-person event since.
These meetings allow us to do far more than business. They let us build genuine friendships and trust, and doing business with friends is simply better. It's impressive to see how our industry operates across different cultures and languages, yet clients everywhere share the same concerns and expectations. Sharing experiences with someone on the other side of the world reminds me how much we have in common.
People still ask whether conferences truly change day-to-day operations. My answer is always the same: it changes everything. Looking someone in the eye reveals character in a way email and phone calls never can. The world evolves, and new technologies emerge, but nothing replaces face-to-face connection. After all, we were made to connect.
